This Standard is intended to establish uniform practicesfor the measurement of master discs or cylindricalplug gages to a given tolerance using vertical or horizontalcomparators and laser instruments. The Standardincludes requirements for geometric qualities of masterdiscs or cylindrical plugs, the important characteristicsof the comparison equipment, environmental conditions,and the means to assure that measurements are madewith an acceptable level of accuracy. This Standarddoes not address thread or gear measuring wires.
