The main focus of this study examines the efficiency of four commercial andindustrial wet detention ponds and compares ponds designed to treat 0.5-inch ofrunoff to ponds designed to treat 1.0-inch of runoff. Storm Water Servicescollected flow-weighted composite samples at the inlet and outlet ofrepresentative ponds under wet weather conditions. Based on the commercial andindustrial wet detention ponds, ponds designed for 1.0-inch of runoff areslightly more efficient than ponds designed for 0.5-inch of runoff. Overallremoval efficiencies of the four ponds were lower than expected. Meanconcentrations from both the inflow and outflow were lower than urban runoffbased on Nationwide Urban Runoff Program (NURP) data as well as land usemonitoring by the City of Greensboro.
