This paper describes the effectiveness of some control strategies, in terms of the conditions of application and the desired objectives. Results obtained over a four-year period of study of internal corrosion in distribution networks have enabled us to determine the effects of various control strategies (primarily the addition of inhibitors) on iron, copper and lead reduction, on disinfection, on the control of biofilm and on the reduction of corrosion deposits on pipe walls. Includes 5 references, tables, figures.
