Full Description

A dual-fuel electric/gas utility serving southeastern Pennsylvania offers secondary commercial customers that use electric heat the option of having their heating and air-conditioning metered separately from the general load. This rate option, called Separate Meters, requires that the customer install two meters and separate the heating and air-conditioning circuits from the general load. The customer benefits from this arrangement by having a reduced electricr ate for heating and air-conditioningf rom October through May.

Actual billing histories are presented for three different types of building occupancy. The first is an office building, the second, a retail store, and the third, a restaurant. Energy consumption, demand, and cost summary data are presented for each building type on a per square foot of conditioned space basis. Heating energy consumption is also presented on a per square foot per degree-day basis.
