This paper offers a synopsis of an infrared scanning program conducted in Oak Creek, WI to identify significant heat losses occurring on the exterior of every city building. Images of 4,000 buildings were obtained by using a mobile, ground-based infrared video-compatible imaging system. Data were collected during the winter of 1983.
The paper will discuss the basis for the entire scanning program and the individual components of the project. These include pre-scan planning and preparation, equipment utilized, data acquisition, interpreter training programs, public data dissemination, and a summary of key points.
