This paper describes different types of centrifugal pumps commonly used in HVAC applications in buildings. It describes where each type of pump is commonly used and the usual application. The paper calls attention to some of the pitfalls to avoid in the installation and application of various pumps and drivers.
The heating and cooling of buildings requires different styles and types of pumps to move liquid econimcally. This paper will discuss seven baic styles of pumps commonly used to pump water to air-conditioned buildings.
The seven basic styles include: circulators; close-copuled end-suction pumps; frame-mounted end-suction pumps; horizontal split-case double-suction pumps; horizontal split-case multistage piumps; vertical in-line pumps and vertical turbine pumps.
